The Tenth International Symposium on High Mountain Remote Sensing Cartography (HMRSC X) will be held in Kathandu, Nepal for 8 -11 September 2008. The organizer of this important meeting is International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) together with ..................................... The objective of the HMRSC X is to promote the interchange of experiences on the development and application of remote sensing techniques on the investigation of the high mountain regions. For this purpose, the symposium will be divided in two parts: A first one of oral and panel expositions of scientific contributions, and a second part of field excursions. This is the first time HMRSC is going to take place in the southern part of Himalaya, suitable venue for this symposium. The topics that will be treated in the HMRSC X are diverse comprising: - Remote Sensing (RS) techniques, - environmental studies, -Morphological mapping, - Monitoring of environmental and global change biodiversity, - geology and mining, - glacier and glacial lake investigations, - ecotourism, - mountain cartography, etc., which are the fields of direct application of remote sensing techniques.
