The HMRSC-X Symposium will be held in the Conference Hall of ICIMOD. There will be pick-up and drop shuttle service from Hotel Himalaya to ICIMOD. The official hotel for the HMRSC-X Symposium is Hotel Himalaya, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Field Excursion

Field excursion has been slated for 12 to 19 September 2008. Arrangement of field excursion will depend on number of participants. Following are the options:

Excursion 2: Kathmandu – Kodari – Kathmandu (Nepalese equivalent of the Silk Road)

Bhote Koshi power house site, A privately owned power station. All power generated is sold to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)

21 Larcha 108.5 Landslide dammed outburst flood site. The small settlement at Larcha was heavily damaged by flash flood caused by landslide damming of Bhairav Kunda Khola and subsequent outburst in 1996
Bhote Kosi intake site. A small pool is constructed to divert the water from the Bhote Kosi river.All the debris/silt are collected here. Accumulated silt is flushed downstream. An underground tunnel, about 4 km long diverts the water to the power house site. A landslide is continuously encroaching the pool.
