Fire monitoring

The MODIS Rapid Response System was developed to provide daily satellite images of the Earth’s landmasses in near real time basis. True-color satellite imageries are available within a few hours of being collected, making the system a valuable resource to make it usable for fire protection and management. Making the MODIS system a valuable resource for organization like ICIMOD, who use the images to track active fires and publish in a web-interface for regional member countries to address near-real time fire monitoring.
