on Space and Major Disasters invoked

Kathmandu- The United Nations (UN) agencies- the Office for the Coordination of
Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and
the Pacific (ESCAP) activated the International Charter “Space and Major Disasters”
on 29th August 2008 upon the request by the International Centre for Integrated
Mountain Development (ICIMOD) and the Government of Nepal (Department of Water Induced
Disaster Prevention) for the devastating floods in eastern Nepal and Indian state
of Bihar.
