Dear Colleague,

First of all let me introduce myself. I am Saroj Aryal and I work in
GIS Section, Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operatives, Nepal.

Here I just want to put my ideas regarding the decision support
system.

Considering the spatial characteristics as well as role playing by
the agriculture sector in the current economy of Nepal, it has
become an urgent need to develop GI as a agriculture decision
support system (ADSS) for central as well as local level realistic
planning, monitoring and implementation as well.

There is no doubt that ADSS is highly effective and satisfies the
objective of Agriculture Resource management in many ways.

But the task is not very easy. We are facing many hurdles while
encompassing the actual field.

Presently, inadequate data, timeliness of data, data flow system and
sharing, meta data , duplication of work , standardization and
co-ordination , human ware, awareness and commitment of various govt.
and other agencies etc. are considered to be major issues for
developing ADSS.

Therefore, I need some other country's experiences and good learning
in this matter. I hope it will be useful for other concerned users as
well.
